As we know them, Supercars is a subdivision of the automotive industry and have always been a testbed for the latest and greatest technological advancements that demand their high price tags.
Today’s supercars are better than ever with the most advanced Drive trains and transmissions that money can’t buy. But most of these advancements even though they make the cars easier to drive also tend to remove some form of engagement from the experience which a manual car offers.
Manual supercars are highly sought after today as they are very rare and command a premium over their automatic variants. So we made a list of the last manuals supercars that have been produced in the last 20 years
1. Ferrari California
The Ferrari California was produced between 2009 and 2014. Many people did not know that Ferrari offered a manual transmission for the California. It was the first front-engine V8 Ferrari to offer a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as well as a 6-speed manual. But demand for the manual was ridiculously low, Ferrari killed it in 2012 which made California the very last Ferrari to be offered with a manual transmission.
2. Ferrari F430
The Ferrari 430 is famously known as the last mid-engine Ferrari to offer a manual transmission. Many of these didn’t come with a manual transmission, but those selling for way higher value than their automatic variants.
3. Ferrari 599GTB
The Ferrari 599 came with Ferrari’s famous naturally aspirated V12 engine. It had 612HP and was the most powerful production Ferrari at the time. The 599 also had an option of a traditional six-speed manual transmission only 30 examples of this manual gearbox were produced. 20 came to the United States And this makes the 559 the last V12 Ferrari to have a 6-speed manual transmission.
4. Lamborghini Gallardo
The Gallardo offered a manual all through its production run making it one of the more readily available supercars with a manual transmission. It has a gated manual with a very distinct metal-to-metal sound and made it very satisfying to shift gears in this Lamborghini.
5. Lamborghini Murcielago
The V12 has been around since Lamborghini existed and so has the manual transmission. Every Lamborghini before it only offered a manual transmission but things changed when the next car came around. The Murcielago went on sale in 2003 and gave buyers the option of either a single clutch or manual transmission to pair with the V12 engine. The LP640 was the last iteration of the manual transmission and less than 50 were made for the entire world.
6. Audi R8
Audi’s R8 was developed with the Gallardo’s platform so it should come as no surprise that it also offered a gated manual shifter with its V8 and V10 variants. This didn’t last though as the last manual R8 was produced in 2015 and its successor now offers a dual-clutch only.
7. Chevy Corvette ZR1
The ZR1 is the most powerful production corvette you can buy today. An Automatic is available but so is a manual and with so much power under your right foot , shifting gears yourself will be an experience.
8. Dodge Viper ACR
America’s supercar blazes the manual trend until the end of its life as that was the only transmission offered to customers. Despite the fact that you had to shift gears yourself, the Viper is an almost unbeatable supercar in the right hands.
9. Ford GT
The Ford GT is an icon and the 2005 version borrows its heritage from the 1960’s racing cars. Over 4,000 of these cars were produced and each one offered a 6-speed manual transmission for the most engaging driving experience with its supercharged V8 making 550HP.
10. Porsche Carrera GT
Looking at the history of Porsche it was inevitable that the new supercar was going to have a manual transmission, Also pricing was the fact that it came with a V 10 engine. The Carrera GT is offered exclusively with a manual transmission with no option for an automatic. This made the driving experience very raw and engaging and many consider this to be the very best manual transmission it’s time.
11. Porsche 911 GT3
Porsche’s GT division takes normal 911 models and makes them the most exciting versions they can ever be. For 2021, Porsche has not disappointed, as it offers a new GT3 with a naturally aspirated flat 6 engine as well as a 6-speed manual transmission. This makes them one of the very last super/sportscar manufacturers that still offer a manual transmission.
12. Aston Martin Vantage
The vantage is the baby of the Aston Martin range its latest model has the option of a manual. The 7-speed dogleg manual transmission is an improved version of the one found in the previous V12 Vantage S.
13. Pagani Zonda
The Zonda is one of the most beautiful supercars of all time. It was sold in limited numbers from 1999-2017 and originally offered a 5-speed manual which later upgraded to a 6 speed. Paired with its V12 engine the power to make glorious sounds is a clutch and shifter away.
14. Koenigsegg CCX
High horsepower supercars aren’t usually known to have a manual transmission. Only 29 of the CCX were produced. The supercharged V8 makes 806HP at its lowest and 1018 in its most powerful form. They came with either a 6-speed manual or sequential transmission
